What on Earth is the Maastricht Science Programme?

In a previous post I talked about how I ended up in MSP but I did not mention a single thing about the programme itself.

So, here I go.

You like sciences. You cry during language and literature exams. You don’t know what kind of a scientist you want to be. Blah blah blah… Yeah. You are just like me 😎.

Now, hear me out: what if I told you there exists this programme named MSP, that allows you to try all sciences out, to choose your subjects as you go, to study what you like and to make friends with future astronauts, zoologists or chemists just cause they fail the same courses you do.

Yes. This is it. I got here, did intro courses to chem, bio, physics and liberal arts. Met my classmates, chose to study astronomy and calculus for the upcoming period and got surprised when I realised my friends would do botany, cell bio, organic chemistry or anatomy.

For each subject we have one lecture a week, and two tutorials with around 15 people. Each period is about two months long and then you change subjects so you change timetable, you meet new people, you rearrange your future plan and you get closer to figuring out who the hell you’ll be in the future.

I could write a whole essay about it, but since essays are not my thing (failed almost all essays I’ve done since I’m 14), I will rather write future posts about the city, the faculty, my student building… yeah, life, whatever.

I hope you enjoyed my shittalk about me figuring out what to do in a future to earn a billion in a year and retire in a greek island to get tan and eat pasta all day long 🥸.

P.S. I posted a while ago a video on tiktok where I explained almost the same thing in spanish 😚 https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMYDXuT4h/
