This year I turn 20.
Yes, 20. Lol. The big two-oh. No longer a teen but not quite a full-on adult. Just… twenty. Dude. Seriously, where did the time go? One minute I was trying to figure out algebra, and the next, I’m trying to figure out life.
Two whole decades of existing. That’s 240 months, 1,040 weeks, and way too many awkward moments. (Feel free to comment if you want a list of these, haha.)
But let’s skip the cringe and focus on the good stuff. I decided to write down everything I loved doing before turning 20—everything worth remembering and someday sharing with my future kids.
Here’s my list:
Before My 20’s I…
- Lived in Spain, Italy, Denmark, and The Netherlands.
- Almost graduated from my science bachelor’s degree (just one month left!).
- Learned two new languages: English and Italian.
- Discovered my nerdy passion for astronomy and physics.
- Traveled outside of Europe.
- Got tattoos.
- Did not get my driving license (lol).
- Had my own little apartment in the city center of a European city (Wonderland with Iñi <3).
- Met my second family (El Otro Lado <3).
- Had my first love.
- Started my first startup.
- Did not learn how to cook (sorry, not sorry).
- Went to New York.
- Gave my first lecture.
- Worked part-time.
- Became president of SEAL (Science and Engineering Student Association!!!).
- Taught afterschool math to high school seniors.
- Went on a couple of cruises.
- Started a blog and dabbled in social media (very part-time, lol).
- Did not solo travel (well, unless you count trips to visit family or friends).
- Made my first big life decisions.
- Lived through a world pandemic (almost forgot about that, lol).
- Survived my first heartbreak—and a heart surgery simultaneously, no big deal.
- Witnessed a meteor shower.
- Hosted my first business event.
- Was finalist in a startup competition.
So yeah, this year I turn 20. The year where everything is “supposed to make sense” but probably won’t. And that’s okay.
I don’t have a life plan yet, and honestly? Cheers to that!
And you, did you get your driving license? learned how to cook? solo travelled?
